Ekka Day Trip - August '09Well what can I say, it was a beautiful sunny Brisbane day for our trip which started off at BP Caboolture North bound at around 8.15am. We headed off towards the north along Steve Irwin way, where before long we hit the dirt and arrived to some spectacular views of the Glass house Mountains. After leaving the look out it was then onto a bit of 4wding through some forest and dusty tracks. Well what I can say about the dust, well there was plenty of it down the back of the pack. It was not long after our good friend John Veling next asked “when’s morning tea” response “when we get there”, well we all know that John is always thinking about food. It was announced that we would be stopping at the Park in Kenilworth for a break, and to sample and purchase some great products from the cheese factory. The convoy of 13 vehicles continued north to come out at Imbil where our Xmas party will be held this year. Not many in Imbil today. Of course John continued to think about food “when’s lunch” well soon enough we stopped and had Lunch at the Pomona Show Grounds, where our club will be holding the 8th Australian 4x4 Gathering 11-15 June 2010. If you have not been to Pomona before it’s worth a look before the Gathering next year. Anyone can stay in the grounds there for a small fee. It was decided from there to head on up to another great lookout which looked out over Noosa and the rest of the Sunshine coast then on to Boreen Point to have our Ice cream stop. From here some said their good bye and some stayed on to enjoy the view. The rest followed Eric on to Tewantin where we hit peak hour traffic. Bit strange for a small town. Well everyone had a great trip and saw some great views over the day’s drive. Thanks to Eric & Helga for a great trip. Steve Baldwin
